For
young people from disadvantaged communities
who complete high school and aspire for higher
education, CAP offers one year and two year
vocational education programs through its industrial
schools and Vocational Junior colleges depending
on their age, educational qualifications, affordable
time and pace of study and family support oriented
employment requirements, this courses being
certified by the State Government. This initiative
encompasses children from disadvantaged communities
to complete their post high school intermediate
level studies with specialization in vocational
streams. A labor market opportunity (feasibility
market) scan was conducted to identify the potential
vocational educational options available for
the youth and match them with the needs and
aptitude for full time/part-time employment
/employability opportunities

being offered in the vocational colleges are:

The interface with the
industry is an integral part of the course as
these courses are linked to apprenticeship/on-job
training in various companies and placements
after the completion of the courses. CAP currently
runs three vocational junior colleges in Andhra
Pradesh and one industrial school in Chennai.
The environment at CAP Vocational Junior
College combines an excellent mix of theoretical
inputs & practical sessions. There is
a strong emphasis on project work as a part
of the regular courses at the college. Many
of the projects are sponsored by the industry.
On an average a student graduating from CAP
Vocational Junior College undertakes around
8 live projects. The program lasts for 2 years,
with an On the Job Training at the end of
the first and second year.

In addition, all the students go through
Life Skills, basic Computers Skills,
Spoken English Skills & Workplace
preparedness Modules integrated with
the course curriculum.
Apart from the theoretical inputs,
the students are encouraged to interact
with industry through Guest Lectures,
Industry Visits, Field Visits, On the
Job Training, Tours, Market Surveys,
Career Exploration Visits, etc. Peer
learning and group learning are also
encouraged through case studies, demonstrations
and role plays. All the students are
encouraged to participate in real time
job assignments with established business
houses to gain first hand knowledge
and skills.

The colleges conduct different
competitive outdoor games, sports, events leading
to all round development of the students. Students
are also encouraged to participate in other
co-curricular activities like Painting, Essay
Writing, Debating, Music, Dance etc,
465 children have completed their vocational
college and are now working and pursuing higher
studies through distance learning mode.
To be in touch with alumni, an Alumni club (Ashakiranalu)
has been established. The Alumni meet at regular
intervals to share their experiences and expertise
with the present day students.
