Livelihood support to youth of Tsunami-affected families in partnership with America India Foundation- UNDP – ILO
The American India Foundation (AIF) has benefited more than 1 million people, by investing in over 115 Indian non-governmental organizations. The foundation works in tandem with government agencies to translate these solutions into policy change. The programs in Kanyakumari and Kollam were supported by United Nations Team for Tsunami Recovery Support (UNTRS) in India, which is a joint UN office where ILO is the project manager and UNDP is the administrative agent.
The fishermen community were the most affected by the Tsunami. The objective of thisprogram was to reach out to the youth of the families affected by the Tsunami and provide the youth of these communities an opportunity to acquire new economy job skills and diversify their livelihood base.
Location
The program is conducted in Kanyakumari and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu, andKollam district of Kerala
