Early Child Care and Development

CAP initiated ECCD interventions in the project communities in 2006 by creating awareness on the need and importance of ECCD program. CAP has also established 23 centres covering about 850 children between 3-6 years. The interventions also include creating awareness among mothers and care givers on immunization, supplementary nutrition, hygiene practices etc. Community monitoring of ECCD programs are through link volunteers (identifying mothers) who have been trained to take up the program in communities. Linkages with UNICEF, Women and Child Welfare department and other resource agencies like CLR for providing ECCD (IEC) materials and training has been a part of the collaboration and networking.

Promoting Child Rights & Child Protection

Child councils are formed with around 30 children each at the school and community level to facilitate them in taking up child rights issues & participate in various interventions. Child rights programs include Capacity building for Child council members who, through drawings, stories and other similar activities identify problems concerning children and their rights in school and community. Consultation, networking and sharing sessions are conducted to give these young children an opportunity to network with other child council members and share their experiences, best practices and to have recreation. As on date, 30 councils with 900 children as its members are operational.
